The 1851 Census shows that Alice was 2 years old, living as a lodger with her widowed father and two old brothers in the home of Thomas Collinge on Back Lane. Several Inghams lived nearby and may have been Alice’s mother’s relatives.
The 1861 Census reveals that Alice (12), her father (40) and two older brothers (16 and 14) now lived in their own home on Back Lane a few doors from Thomas Collinge. James and his two sons were Coal Miners and Alice was at school.
Alice married James Magnall (GM021/149) on 7 May 1868 when she was aged 19. They were married at the Parish Church in Burnley. Details of the certificate are shown below:

James died in 1908 leaving Alice as a widow. The 1911 Census shows that Alice was 62 years old living at 276 Cog Lane with her daughter, Alice Annie, who was 27 years old. Neither of them are recorded as having a profession.
From the Registers we think that Alice died in Burnley in 1934 (Q2 8e 198) aged 85 having born at least 13 children and having seen 9 of them die before she did. Further details can be found under James Magnall (GM021/149).
Alice died on 26 April 1934 aged 85, she had been living at Monkholme Nursing Home in Reedley Hallows. She was buried in Burnley Cemetery on 1 May along with her husband in grave 1685.
Many thanks to Dorothy Y Magnall and James Greenwood Magnall for their help in supplying much of this information.
