Ann Elizabeth Magnall was born 1878 to John (GM151/GM007) and Sarah (nee Hargreaves – FM020) at 45 Cog Lane, Habergham Eaves – The Peeping Tom Inn.

The 1881 census shows that Ann was 3 years old and was living at 45 Cog Lane, the Peeping Tom Inn, in Habergham Eaves with her parents and siblings.

By the time of the 1891 census the family had moved to the Shepherd’s Arms public house at 69-71 Cog Lane. Ann was now 13 years old and at school.

In the 1901 Census Ann was recorded as Annie, the family was still living at the Shepherd’s Arms which was described as a “beer house”. Annie was 22 years old and working as a cotton weaver.

Annie’s father, John, died at home on the 27 December 1904. The 1911 Census shows that Anne was still living at the Shepherd’s Arms with her widowed mother, Edith and Lewis. Her mother is recorded as working as a “Beer & Wine Retailer”, none of the children have a profession shown.

Annie, aged 33, married Tom Shields on 12 February 1912 at St John the Baptist Church in Burnley. Tom, 35, was living at 197 Cog Lane and was working as a butcher.

Annie died in August 1927 aged 49, she was living at 65 Cog Lane. She was buried on 13 August in Burnley Cemetery.
