Jesse was born in 1877 in Westhoughton, the eldest son of Jesse (GM107) and Alice (GM111).
In the 1881 Census Jesse was three years old living with his parents at Kingsdown Terrace on the Warrington Road in Abram.
The family had moved to 8 Wright Street in Abram by the time of the 1891 Census. Jesse was now 13 years old and was working as a coal mine labourer.
Jesse married Jane (don’t know surname yet) in 1900 and they had the following children:-
- Frances (DM077) born 1900;
- Maggie Alice (DM119) bapt 2 October 1904;
- Elsie (DM146) bapt 20 Jan 1907.
At the time of the 1901 Census Jessie and Jane were living at 8 Wright Street with Jesses’ widowed mother. The census describes Jesse as a Coal Hewer, Frances was 6 months old.
Jesse and family were still living at 8 Wright Street when Maggie Alice was baptised in 1904 but they had moved to 4 Egerton Street by the time of Elsie’s baptism.
Jesse died in 1945.
