The 1881 Census shows that Thomas is living with his parents at 6 Cog Square, Burnley. By the time of the 1891 Census the family had moved to 216 Howard Street. Thomas had now started work as a cotton weaver.
Thomas married Ruth Taylor on the 1st July 1905 at Mount Pisgal Chapel, Myrtle Bank on Cog Lane, Burnley. Below are the details on their marriage certificate:-

Thomas and Ruth had two sons:
- Clifford (DM311), born 17 November 1905, died 1943;
- Tom (DM032), born 7 September 1911, died 1969.
The 1911 Census shows that Thomas and Ruth were living at 52 Woodbine Road in Burnley with their oldest son Clifford and Ruth’s widowed father, Richard. Thomas was working as a Cotton Loom Overlooker and Ruth was working as a Cotton Weaver. Richard was 53 and working as a “Coal Miner Hewer”.
We think, but have yet to confirm, that Thomas died in Nelson in 1963 (RoD Nelson 1963 Q1 10e 751 age 82)
