Dorothy Isobel Magnall was born on 15 December 1909 to Joseph Magnall and Eliza Jane (nee Wilkinson). The family were living at 69 Athol Street in Burnley and Dorothy was christened at St Matthew Church on 27 January 1910. Her father was working as a weaver.
At the time of the 1911 Census, Dorothy was living with her parents and older brother at 69 Athol Street in Burnley, she was 1 year old.
Dorothy married Samuel Parkinson in 1936. Samuel was a poultry farmer. The 1939 Register showed Samuel and Winifred were living at Malewood on Fylde Road near Blackpool with their son Alan Vivian. Alan appears to have been born on 22 January 1930 and at school. At this stage, I don’t know if he was Samuel’s son by a previous marriage or was born to Dorothy before she married Samuel. Since his middle name is Vivian it suggests that Dorothy was his mother.
Dorothy died on 21 November 1969. Probate reads:
