Helen was born in 1855 in Salford, she was the daughter of Fenton Mangnall (GM142) and his wife Martha. She was baptised on the 20th December 1856 at St Philip’s Church in Salford. Her mother, Martha, died on 1 June 1857 and her father remarried to Eliza Grave on 12 April 1860.

The 1861 Census shows that Helen was living with her Aunt Mary at 4 Northern Terrace, Broughton in Salford presumably as Eliza, her step mother, was expecting or had just given birth to her half-brother Reginald.

In 1871 the census shows that Helen is still living with her Aunt Mary at the same address. She is shown as a scholar. Her father, step-mother and family were recorded at Wood End, Styal in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

By the time of the 1881 Census Helen was 25 years old and living with her Aunt Fanny as Mary had died. They were now living at 5 Scovell Street in Broughton.

Helen married Quentin Theodore Bluhm on the 4 May 1881. They had at least one child:-

The 1891 Census shows that Quentin was aged 36 and was a Stocks and Shares Broker. The family were living at “Lyndhurst” on Holden Street in Broughton with two servants.

The family were still living at Lyndhurst at the time of the 1901 Census, Quentin was a Sharebroker Agent, Helen was now 45 years old and the two boys were still living at home.

Helen died in 1923.
